FULL SET OF 4 COINS IN INDIVIDUAL PRESENTATION CASES. Words were few as guidance, for hunting skills came from example.

Understanding this spiritual connection to the earth, the animals and the rhythm of the seasons, was and still is a large part of what makes a good hunter. RCM's " Tradition of Hunting " series features each of most common hunting trades, as seen through the eyes of First Nation's artists. All coins are proofs, beautifully enhanced by the selected different finishes that highlight the depth, the light, and the softening effect of the actual painting.

And of course, each coin comes beautifully detailed, which makes it a unique piece of art. The reverse of first 3 coins is designed by Coast Salish First Nation's artist Darlene Gait and the last one - by Cree artist Tim Whiskeychan. The obverse of each coin features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt. Each coin is housed in RCM's maroon clamshell presentation case and packaged in a black beauty box, with its own serialized COA. This valued collection of 4 beautiful coins is sure to brighten up a numismatic nature, hunting, and aboriginal history enthusiasts.

The 4 coins in the series are. The White Tail Deer offered up food, clothing and housing to our First People for thousands of years, a sacrifice that never went unappreciated.

And true wisdom is to know this before your first hunt. The reverse features a captivating narrative of a young boy's inaugural hunt, his eagerness evident in his face as his camouflaged father raises a finger for silence. A buck stands in the background amid tall grasses and the rock behind the boy features a petroglyph of a hunting scene. Of second coin features a captivating narrative of two young boys surveying a bison herd prior to their first hunt while their father points to the miraculous White Buffalo. The Inuit's efforts to live in harmony with the sea, the land, and with all living things, ensure hunters maintain a balance with all the ocean's creatures, including the seal. Archaeological evidence suggests that the First Nations people of the Arctic regions of Canada have been hunting seals for over 4,000 years. Traditionally, when an Inuit boy killed his first seal, a feast was held in his honor. Though the act of seal hunting has been vocally condemned world-wide, the Aboriginal communities of Canada remain excluded from this criticism, as their practise is not usually commerce-based.

Their hunt is done in very small numbers, making up 3% of the total amount of seal hunting worldwide; furthermore, seal meat is a dietary staple in these communities, while the skin is used for water-proof jackets and boots, and the fat is used for fuel, cooking oil and lubricant. Depicts two Inuit people bundled for warmth, awaiting a seal to emerge from the breathing hole in the sheet of ice they are standing on, with. Stunning, ice-filled backdrop of northern Canadian waters behind them.

Cheekily, the creature watches them from a nearby access hole behind them, keenly aware of their presence. The goose hunt has been a crucial aspect of First Nations survival for thousands of years; every autumn and spring, hunters living along migration paths would hunt geese in order to provide nourishment for their communities, with the hunt sometimes yielding up to four months of meat!

Cree artist Tim Whiskeychan has created a wonderful reverse design of a traditional Aboriginal hunter taking aim at a pair of Canada geese with his bow and arrow. He is wearing traditional Cree clothing.

The hunter is hiding behind tall grass that would typically border a body of water where boreal forest meets grasslands. The snow melt on the water suggests this is a springtime goose hunt.
