The 2022 dated Peace Dollar is minted with an innovative pulsating texture on the reverse. When the coin is tilted, the coin's surface appears to ripple, an effect caused by light reflected off of hundreds of tiny mirrors. New to the series for 2022 is the addition of this five ounce weight coin. This 2022 Canadian Peace Dollar coin is struck from 5 Troy oz. The coin represents the first release of the series to be minted with the 5 oz. The coin measures a generous 65.25 mm in diameter, with a standard reeded edge. The coin features a spectacular ultra high relief proof finish. The reverse imagery of the coin is enhanced by a pulsating field texture. The coin will arrive as packaged by the Mint. Mintage is limited to merely 1,000 pieces. Exquisite Canadian Peace Dollar Design. Obverse: The right facing likeness of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II crafted by award-winning Canadian portrait artist Susanna Blunt in 2003 is centered on the obverse. The inscriptions "ELIZABETH II, " "CANADA, " D. REGINA" and "50 DOLLARS surround the portrait, along with a laser etched repeating geometric field pattern which is unique to the 5 oz. Reverse: A young woman is depicted on the reverse with a wreath of maple leaves and olive branches upon her head, which are design elements representing peace, order and good government. The background features the coin's unique pulsating texture.

"A MARI USQUE AD MARE" curves above, which translates from Latin as the Canadian national motto From Sea to Sea. " Additional inscriptions include "PAX" (peace), "2022" and the artist's initials "ST, crediting Susan Taylor with the elegant imagery. Taylor is a retired RCM senior engraver, and a 2016 recipient of the American Medal of the Year Award.
