His coin is 99.99% pure silver, with a diameter of 38 millimetres and a nominal metal weight of 31.39 grams. The reverse design by Canadian paleoartist Julius Csotonyl features the fossilized skull of Thanatotheristes degrootorum (Reaper of Death). Against a black rhodium-plated texture background, which represents the rock formation in which fossil fragments were found.

The design was reviewed for scientific accuracy by paleontologists at the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Paleontology in Drumheller, Alberta.
