This magnificently designed domed proof coin is issued by the Royal Canadian Mint to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 lunar landing on July 20, 1969. Measuring 36.07 mm in diameter, this 2019 Apollo 11 coin is struck from 1 Troy oz. 9999 fine silver with a mintage limited to 5,500. The domed reverse is textured to represent the moon's surface, which serves as a background to the image of astronaut Neil Armstrong standing beside the lunar module "Eagle" and the inscriptions "1969, " "2019" and 50 YEARS ANS. " The surrounding statement by Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau was included on a plaque left on the moon featuring messages of peace from world leaders: "Man has reached out and touched the tranquil moon.

" The French portion translates as: "May that high accomplishment allow man to rediscover the Earth and find peace there. The likeness of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II sculpted by Susanna Blunt graces the concave obverse.
