In 1998, the Royal Canadian Mint inaugurated a remarkable series of sterling Silver coins featuring the animal symbols of Chinese astrology based on the Lunar Calendar. These symbols roughly approximate the signs of the zodiac in western culture, however, denote years instead of months.

Contains 1 oz of Silver. Comes packaged in a satin-like case with a custom red sleeve. Mintage of 44,690 coins. Obverse: Depicts the Dora de Pedery-Hunt effigy of the Queen.

Reverse: Features the Rooster in the center on a 24kt Gold-covered octagonal cameo. Positioned like numbers on a clock dial is each of the lunar animals.
