Artists - Pierre Leduc (reverse), Susanna Blunt (obverse). A symbol of the power and vastness of North Americas northern landscape, the polar bear is king of the Canadian Arctic. And no wonder: not only is Canada home to the largest polar bear population on earth, but this massive beast has the ability to survive and thrive amid North Americas harshest climates.
This is the second coin in the Royal Canadian Mints exciting new O Canada 1-oz silver coin series, focusing on iconic Canadian images. Engraved in exquisite detail to celebrate one of Canadas most important national icons. Struck in premium proof finish with a mirrored background. Crafted in 99.99% pure silver.Limited mintage of only 8,500 coins. Designed by Canadian artist Pierre Leduc, the engraved coin displays a heartwarming scene: a mother polar bear with her two young cubs on a frozen Arctic hillside. The massive mother sits patiently on her hindquarters in a snowdrift, practically nose-to-nose with one cavorting cub as it stands on its hind legs, pawing at her left arm. The other cub stands in front of her on all fours, looking around at its frozen surroundings. Above the bears and to the right side of the image rises a large snowdrift topped by two snow-covered trees. The reverse also features a stylized polar bear paw print and the engraved word CANADA, the date 2013 and the face value of 25 DOLLARS. Each coin is encapsulated and presented in a maroon clam-shell case lined with flock and protected by a custom'beauty box'.

Be sure to add me to your favorites list. Unsearched All of the coins offered in this listing are unsearched.
Many coin dealers search all coins when they are received from the Mint. They "cherry-pick" the best coins. Then submit them to be graded, certified, and slabbed by PCGS, NGC, ANACS, etc. When a dealer searches coins, those that they sell in original Mint packaging are only lesser quality coins.
Photos: When a listing offers multiples of the same coin, one coin is picked at random and photographed. Since all coins offered in that listing are essentially identical, the coin photographed is representative of all coins offered. Surface areas that appear black on some proof coin photos are actually highly polished, mirror-bright metal reflecting the color of the camera.
We often include proof coin photos with the coin slightly tilted to better depict the mirror bright surfaces. However, tilting the coin may resulting one side being slightly out of focus. Whenever possible, we use actual photos of our coins, rather than just stock artwork from the Mint.
We frequently update and upgrade the photos that appear with our listings, using improved cameras and lenses and better lighting. We will honor your requests for additional photos as quickly as our schedule permits.
